Our Amsterdam VFX team had the exciting opportunity to create a realistic yet playful CG squirrel for Allianz Direct’s latest campaign.

The goal was to bring the squirrel to life with natural, lifelike qualities while incorporating humour into its expressions and movements. To achieve this, our team focused on detailing the fur, crafting a believable irregularity, and incorporating secondary muscle movements to avoid any static or rigid appearance.

Once the animation was complete, our compositing artists meticulously integrated the squirrel into the live-action footage, ensuring seamless visual harmony.

Fun fact: During the shoot, we used a taxidermy squirrel to capture reference plates, helping us observe how its fur reacted to lighting in real-world conditions.
